Dolores Cannon

Dolores Cannon (1931 to 2014) was an American hypnotherapist and author. Over more than four decades she conducted regression sessions and published the results in a long series of books. She founded Ozark Mountain Publishing and taught her method as the Quantum Healing Hypnosis Technique.

Work

Research finding

Cannon began with past-life regression in the late 1960s. She reported that clients in deep trance went on to describe much more than earlier lives: the state between lives, the origin of souls, and contact with non-human intelligences.

Between Death and Life gathered what her clients said about dying and what follows.[1]

The Three Waves of Volunteers and the New Earth presented her best-known claim. According to her clients, souls from elsewhere volunteered to be born on Earth in three waves from the middle of the twentieth century, to help the planet through a period of change.[2]

Reception

Open question

Cannon's work stands outside science. Her books report what individual clients said under hypnosis, as heard and edited by one practitioner, with no means of checking the content. Her subject matter, which includes extraterrestrial contact and lost civilizations, places her further from mainstream research than any other source this wiki describes. The general problems of hypnotic recall apply in full. See The reliability of hypnotic regression.

Her readers value the work as testimony and as a source of meaning.

Relation to Universal Panpsychism

Framework claim

Cannon is a direct source for The Bridge. The text cites The Three Waves of Volunteers and the New Earth for its account of volunteer souls in chapter 9, and draws on her work elsewhere.[3]

On this wiki, material that derives from Cannon is labeled as a framework claim or an open question. It is the part of the framework furthest from independent evidence, and readers weighing the framework should know which parts rest on it. Cannon had no connection to The Source of Aletheia.
