Michael Newton
Michael Newton (1931 to 2016) was an American hypnotherapist. He developed life-between-lives hypnotherapy, a method intended to recover memories of the period between one life and the next.
Work
Research findingNewton wrote that he began as a conventional hypnotherapist, skeptical of past-life regression, and changed course after clients began describing an existence between lives. Over several decades he recorded what clients in deep hypnosis reported.
Journey of Souls (1994) presented case transcripts arranged to follow a soul from death, through a homecoming and a period of review, to the choice of a new life.[1] Destiny of Souls (2000) added further cases.[2] Both sold widely and have been translated into many languages.
In 2002 he founded an organization to train practitioners in his method. It continues as The Newton Institute.
Reception
Open questionNewton's work has not been published in peer-reviewed journals or tested by independent researchers. The consistency he reported among clients is the main point in its favor. It is also what the method would be expected to produce, since one practitioner asked structured questions that drew on earlier sessions. See The reliability of hypnotic regression.
Relation to Universal Panpsychism
Framework claimThe picture of the time between lives in The Bridge, with its guides, soul families, council, and planning of the next life, closely resembles Newton's.[3] On this wiki, claims that rest on this kind of testimony are labeled as framework claims. Newton had no connection to The Source of Aletheia.
